During my bachelor's studies in electrical and electronics engineering, I became increasingly interested in topics that connected traditional electrical engineering with the growing field of computer science. At first, my focus was largely on core electrical engineering subjects like power systems and circuit design. However, as I progressed through the curriculum, courses like Embedded Systems and Digital Signal Processing opened my eyes to the potential of integrating software approaches with hardware problems. The more I explored, the clearer it became that computer science methodologies have a significant role to play in solving electrical engineering challenges. Whether it's using Python scripts to automate data collection in electrical systems or applying machine learning algorithms to optimize power consumption in real-time, the merging of these fields offers groundbreaking possibilities. As technology continues to advance, the lines between electrical engineering and computer science are becoming less distinct. This blending of disciplines is driving rapid innovation in areas ranging from smart grids and IoT devices to autonomous vehicles and advanced robotics. Recognizing this trend, I took the initiative to learn more about subjects like programming, data structures, and algorithms.

I found it fascinating how programming languages like C++ and Python could solve complex problems in electrical engineering, from system modeling to control systems. These independent studies further fueled my desire to formally integrate computer science into my educational path. This led me to the Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) program at Lakehead University. The program's balanced focus on electrical engineering and computer science topics such as Signal Processing, Micro/Nano Electronic Systems, and Software Engineering aligns perfectly with my academic interests and career goals. I am especially excited about the opportunity to engage in research and development at the intersection of these two disciplines. I am eager to investigate how advanced computational techniques can be used to address complex engineering challenges.
